Designer, interior designer and interior decorator, Alejandro Ruiz worked as a designer for Alessandro Mendini at Studio Alchimia and collaborated with Alchimia studio and with Gregotti Associati. He was teacher at the European Design Institute, at Domus Academy and at the Faculty of Architecture Politecnico di Milano in Mantova and he currently teaches at Istituto Macchina in Brescia, Italy.
As well as Alessi, Alejandro Ruiz has produced designs for for Red-Zanussi, Fiat-Alfa Romeo, Electrolux Group, Ikea, Kellogs,Virgin Records, Comune di Bologna, Comune di Milano and others.
The cheese grater Parmenide, designed by Alejandro Ruiz for Alessi is part of the Permanent Design Collection at the MOMA in New York.
